hello everyone. My wife and myself curently live in South Australia and have been here almost 5 years. We have two VERY sporty kids ,a 9yr old girl and a 7yr old boy. I am a cabinet maker and my wife is a primary teacher. Here in a SA it is really hard for primary teachers to get permanent work.:frown: So we are thinking about relocating all over again to your sunny gold coast !!!! Has anyone here been in the same boat or got any advice to help us make a decision ???
Hi and welcome to the forum The Gold Coast is great , your kids will love it if they are the sporty type Sorry i cant help with comparisons as ive never lived in SA, the couple of familys we have relocated from Adelaide seem to like their new life here and are very happy, so hopefully thats reasuring for you. Good Luck with everything Cal x

Hi I lived in adelaide for a while and now live in Bris. It is like a diffrent world up here!! Adelaide might suit some people but found it really hard to get on down there the adelaide locals have a very small town mind and there rest of oz just think it for old people. Much more fun up here. Hurry up life is to short. Get up here.
I would agree with deb in that it is like moving to another country. we were in adelaide for almost 3 years and been in brissy for nearly 2 years. however, i personally, wouldnt say its better than Adelaide its so different and I find the people in adelaide much friendlier than in brissy, ive heard it many times from people i know here who have said how rude they find people in brissy but i suppose that comes with being in a bigger city. I would say I love the winter months in Brissy (the summer humidity is hell) but I love the summer months in Adelaide. however there does seem more opportunity for sports for the kids all year round here in brissy. im not sure why they say SA is old fashioned compared to all the other states as I have had quite a few jobs since being in brissy and find the mentality way behind that held by employers in SA, unless i just worked for a really good firm in SA. took me a long time to settle in brissy and wanted to run back to adelaide for the first year but after going back on holiday last july we decided that we had made the right decision in coming to brissy after all and have really settled since
Out of 10 the Gold Coast scores 11!!! Book your tickets and get up here for a look, you know where we are. Make the move and do it soon as the Gold Coast Property market is going to be on the move up very soon! This site is very quiet compared to PIA, try PomsInOz x x x
Thanks everyone for your replies. I actually really like Adelaide as we moved to Oz for a slower more relaxed way of life with more time together as a family. If it wasn't for my wifes work situation we wouldn't be contemplating the move all over again. The biggest worry for me is going back to not knowing where everything is again and driving round with a street directory on my lap or relying on the sat nav to get me from A-B !!!! If anyone on here can shed some light on primary teaching in the gold coast it would be much appreciated !!!
The coast is so laid back, yet with everything going on - take it or leave it. Getting around is very easy here, a lot easier than Adelaide, so don't worry. Let me know if you want me to look into anything at all for you x x x
