Hi all, this is not really my first introduction, I did pop up on the site for a while over a year ago when I was moving from Adelaide to the Gold Coast but then vanished! I have redicovered the site in it's new name and thought I would pop in and see whats happening. I have been living in Surfers Paradise for over a year now and may be able to help out with a bit of Gold Coast information if anyone need it. The first bit of info people should know about the Gold Coast is it's not just a holiday / party city, just a few minutes away from the beach there are some wonderful suburbs where you never see a tourist and on the western parts of the Gold Coast Brisbane is very commutable. There are also some beach suburbs that are not too lively. I only feel the need to say this because most people who visit only see the tourist parts and get the wrong idea about the city, only a little over a year in and I'm getting quite protective of my new home! Hi Simon Welcome back and great to see youve arrived and settled on the GC. You are so right about it not just being a holiday destination, you tend to find folk who say that, have only ever been there to visit the tourist bits and havent seen the best the coast has to offer,,BUT ,,sshhh dont tell everyone or those great places will get ruined,,lol Cal x
HI, thanks for that simes! We did our reccie on the Gold coast and down to NSW in february and loved it! We are now looking at coming back to live either on the sunshine coast or the gold coast! What is the work situation like there? My oh works in fire control[dispatches] and would be trying there first but if not general unskilled type work. We absolutely loved it and agree it gets a bad press, we particularly liked Currumbin area. Thanks
Hi Cal and Judy, the work situation has not been good on the Gold Coast, always some work around but not great. Things are starting to improve now, light rail being built new univerciy hospital, a few devopments been given the go ahead and the commonwealth games in 2018 means about $2billion and 20,000 jobs over the next few years so definetly looking up. Simon
Thanks for that, she is pretty open to doing anything so hope we will be ok!Thanks for your optimism!
