    Hi All!!
We are coming up to Brissy in a couple of weeks to check out the place with regards to a possible move. We currently live in Adelaide. I have been scouring some of the old posts over the last few months and have compiled a list of what you guys think are good suburbs and bad suburbs. Here is my list:

    GOOD SUBURBS

    THORNLANDS
    ORMISTON
    CLEVELAND
    REDLAND BAY
    VICTORIA POINT
    SPRINGFIELD LAKES
    INDOOROOPILLY
    FIG TREE POCKET
    KENMOOR
    NORTH LAKES
    CLEVELAND
    CARINDALE
    CARINA
    COOMERA
    HELENSDALE
    PACIFIC PINES
    GREENBANK

    BAD SUBURBS

    WOODRIDGE
    KINGSTON
    LOGAN CENTRAL
    WACOL
    INALA
    ROCKLEA
    DARRA

Does this sound about right to all you Brisbanites and can you recommend any other ones to check out?

    Many Thanks

    Hi SA,

You seem to be doing things just right; research, research and more research. And then when you've finished, more research, just for good measure!!

I can't disagree with your "Good" list. Freud would probably say that you've already made your choice; Cleveland, it's so good, you've named it twice!! But then I'm biased!!

Indooroopilly is on the river and parts were badly flooded in Jan. But you should be OK there for another 30 years until the next one!!

We have friends here who moved from Adelaide last Dec. They haven't looked back once and are now buying their new home. Hope it suits you as much.

    Cheers

Looks like a good list........especially as my suburb is on the list :)! It really depends on what you are looking for in a Suburb. I am guessing you are looking at family suburbs from the types of places you have listed?

If you want any more specific info on any of the Bayside suburbs, give me a shout.

    Love

LOL Cleveland it is then!! Didnt realise that one!! Thanks for the feedback guys and no we havent discounted Gold Coast at all but just thinking that nearer to Brissie may be better for employment??? Anyway we will be there on the 17th of July for a week so will let you know how we go. Main concern for leaving Adelaide would be the friend base we have accumulated over the last 20 years and it would mean starting over again but if you thought like that then we wouldnt have left the UK in the first place!

HI there, all those area's are on the southside, do you want to live on the south ? there are some lovely area's on the Northside, also depends really your budget for buying or renting, Samford, Ashgrove, Redhill, Mitchelton, Ferny Grove, Mcdowal, Albany Creek, warner lakes they are all nice area,s if you go onto realestate.com and put in some areas you will find a ratings area, where people have filled in info, not sure if you can really trust it, but gives you some ideas.

Thanks for that. At this stage we were concentrating on just South of Brisbane cos I love the Gold Coast but will certainly have a cruise around those suburbs as well. The list gets longer!! Will check out that Real Estate web site too. Many thanks

thank you for such valuable information.
I'll be moving to Brisbane around August/September, based on research i made probably choosing carina/carindale. my office is in CBD. 30-40mins commute would be reasonable and lot of Child Care centre is my preference (for my wife to try her luck to find job there as assistant).

But what about North suburb? McDowall? Thats my initial plan but i saw few thread that place is high crime place. Anybody can confirm this rumours?

    Thanks!

Some of your suburbs are a long way from the Brisbane CBD if that is important to you. There are a lot more in the inner 15km that are worth considering....probably most of them.

Oooh Manly - can you let me know what the travel into CBD is from Manly and surrounds......any background on Manly would be great as we are strongly considering there. In the GC at the moment but commute is just too far but still want to be near the coast. Have been looking at Wynnum, Wakerley, Manly and Lota.... thanks Shelly

nd takes 25/30 minutes to get to fortitude valley. The city is more like 45 mins on the train.
Manly has a verysmall community feel, you always seem to bump into someone you know. The esplanade has lots of playareas and things happening- movies & markets. Manly state school is popular but does have a strict catchment, so finding rentals can be tough! A fair few English Irishand friendly Australians.
