Hi We are planning on moving over in August, I have 2 children aged 9 and 2. My husband has been advised that the Gold Coast would be a good place to live.
We have been looking at locating ourselves somewhere along the Robina trainline this giving easy access to Brisbane.
I've started looking at the schools in Robina, Coomera, Ormeau, Nerang and Helensvale and am finding that they are all under achieving the state requirements. Can anyone advise me or recommend schools within these areas. Or other areas close to these towns as I feel we might need access to the train line.

    Many thanks
    Jo

Varsity Lakes is supposed to be a good school, i know the catchment area is quite tight though. Varsity Lakes itself is a nice area, pretty new and easy access to Robina.

Many thanks for your help Cal. Have been looking at the area and it seems perfect. Can you advise me re looking for employment we have C.V's ready to go. Are we able to apply for jobs now or should we wait until we arrive? Can you advise me of any employment agencies? Many thanks for your help.

    Hiya
To be honest with your trades (beautician and painter) i dont think you will struggle to secure work. Hairdressers, beauticians etc always seem to find work easy enough and normally end up with a choice of employers.

There is no doubt the best way to secure work is to go door knocking once your here,, spend a week or so finding your feet, securing a longer term rental etc and then get the white pages and VISIT every company who you think may do your line of work. Walk in ,sell yourself and take it from there. Carry some copys of your CV with you and go for it.

The next best way to secure work is ringing people,, again dont rely on job ad's, get the white pages and just ring them reagrdless.

You never get much response when applying for work if your not here, this can be really disheartening and the odd response you may get will just say ''ring us when your here' ,,lol

Good luck but im sure you will be fine.
