Hi we are hoping to be in Brisbane April this year and looking for some general advice about banking.
Is it worth opening a bank account on line before our arrival and how do people generally go about transfering funds?

Hi, its easy to open an account online prior to your arrival. I personally opened a HSBC account, but others are just as good.... eg Commonwealth Bank etc . The best and easiest place to transfer money in my opinion is either OzForex or Hifx. Hope this helps.

Hiya , as the above post says it is pretty easy to open an account on line before you arrive. You can then add funds but cant withdraw or make any payments from the account until you have visited a local branch here to activate and show ID. The main banks that seem to be used are
Anz, Westpac, Commonwealth, Hsbc are ok but their activation branch is in the city which can be a drag to get too if you arent settling inner city, with the others you can activate at the nearest branch to where you are making it a little less stressful.
    Hope this helps a bit
