Just wanted to introduce my clan, Me (aly 38yrs) Hubby( Steve 38yrs) Huey (5 yrs) & Lola (3yrs). Just started our visa app and are now £700 quid lighter, but on saying that just read the Daily Mail and it was very depressing and has made me realise why we want this move. So we are interested in hearing all the Good, Bad & Ugly about life downunder. Have a good weekend all you'Brits in Brissie'

We're new to this forum too so thought we'd say hi!

We FINALLY got our visas granted this Feb and plan to move over to Brisbane this October.

It took us about 3 years to get our visa from start to finish so expect a long slog but stay strong and think of your future!!!

We spent a year in Oz (Mostly Brisbane) in 2005 - 06 and loved it.
We originally went to see our families and do a bit of travelling with no thoughts of actually ever emigrating but after a few months we'd made our minds up.

The weather as you may have guessed is fantastic year round, the cost of living is better than here in Britain and life generally seems better.

I hope everything runs smoothly for you all.

Thx for the encouragement....BUT 3 years?...how many doubts am I going to have in that space of time??? We off to Brisbane in Aug for hols and wee look at what we could have, so hopefully this will keep me motivated. Good luck with the move and keep us posted on how it all goes.

Welcome to BiB. It is very frustrating for people who are in your position! So much can change for people in 3 years! Anyway, lets hope that things DO change in that time so that it doesn't end up being a 3 year wait!

Like any country Oz has its ups and downs,, for some reason though the negatives are easier to deal with when your in the sun! lol
