Hi Cal, i believe we have "spoken" previousy.

Just wanted to pick your brains for some advice; as you seen to be one of the most informed people on this site.

Re: work - I'm a maintenance fitter and am wondering if there is any "industrial / production area in and around Brisbane? Obviously there is the airport; but are there any other areas around brisbane that i should be looking at?.

My partner works at Heatrow and is also hoping to get into brisbane airport to work. Is there much work there.

We are both workers and wil not be fussy regarding work. Can you or anyone recommend any web sites that we can try for work?

Your help is very much appreciated and keep up the great work on this site that makes it so good.

    Hiya Steve
For jobs at Brisbane Airport follow this link http://jobs.seek.com.au/alliance/bac/ Don't forget Gold Coast have quite a large (and growing) airport too. http://www.qldairports.com.au/employmentatQAL.php

For yourself keep an eye on job sites like www.Seek.com and www.Alljobs.com.au .
Wacol is quite an industrial area so it maybe worth you log onto the white pages on-line and see what companys are in and around that area and if you can't approach them in person , ring them where possible ( e-mails often dont get a reply).

The port of Brisbane also released their own job site which may be of interest to you http://www.portbris.com.au/corporation/employment/job_vacancies/vacancies

Then you have the Wyralong Dam project which is moving full steam ahead and also the Bromelton Development that is a massive programme.
    http://www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/busDev/bromeltonSDA.shtml
    http://www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/residents/wyaralongDam.shtml

There is no doubt the job situation has toughened up ,some areas more than others but there are still some jobs out there.
Try to get organised with TFNs and Blue Cards etc as soon as you can once you have arrived, and approach jobs in person where possible.
Hope this helps a little and lots of luck
