Hi all...I have spent the last 3 months studying the Queensland road rules book in readiness for the driving test when we emmigrate in the new year.
Now someone has told us that we do not need to take the test..I am confused as all the books and web sites state us Brits need to take a written and practicle test...
Can somone please tell me what is true..many thanks
MERRY CHRISTMAS.. Des Julie and David..

I do not know when it changed, I do believe a few years ago you did have to take the test. But now you just turn up with ID (passport, medicare card, bank card and proof of address), form filled in and Money and you get your Licence to the same category as the UK. You may have to take an Eye test and you have three months from arriving here to get your licence. They return you UK licence back to you (well they did with me), I thought they would keep it, because when my wife changed to a UK licence they kept her Aussie licence, but here its given back to you.

As long as you already hold a british licence, it's just a straight swap!
