We get to Bris in 11 weeks and I will have to travel between our friends house in Caloundra to Acacia Ridge for work for a short time until we move Southside. Dose anyone know the journey time and is the new bridge due to open soon? Thanks, Steve..

I would have a guess that in rush hour (without accidents) you would be looking at an hour and a half. It is both sides of the gateway that will trip you up,, the new bridge isnt open as yet but shouldnt be too much longer.

If you are travelling at non peak times (like in the middle of the night!!) you are looking at a minimum of 1.5 hours as Cal says. At peak times I would think at an absolute minimum you are talking 2 hours, but probably nearer 2.5.

I don't envy you!! I hope you find somewhere to live Southside ASAP!!!!

Thanks guys for the info. Hopefully moving Southside within 2-3 weeks into a rental. Looking at Wellington point, Thornlands, Victoria point. I have been told to rent a property, the agent needs a payslip etc from my employer, so will have to work a few weeks and put up with the drive. Hope they give me a decent company car!!Having never rented a property before this is all new to us and abit daunting!
Thanks again for the info, Steve and Kelly.

    Good choice of area

You shouldn't need payslips. Many people secure rentals without even having job. You could get a letter from your employer stating what your salary is to back up your application for a rental though. I would have a look for a rental as soon as you get here - that drive is going to drive you INSANE!!!!!!

I agree with Rudi,, unless you have found a jobsworth agent , a letter from your employer stating you have a job, the hours ,salary etc should be all you need to proove income.
    Good Luck

I would also try the commute from Wellington Point before comitting to a rental there if thats were you are looking to settle,,as your most direct route will still put you on the Gateway at Old Cleveland Rd , so traffic jams may still be a daily occurance(old cleveland Rd is a VERY busy junction), meaning your commute could still be over an hour.

    Good Luck

It's not too bad there in the mornings. If you were heading north on the Gateway it can be pretty bad sometimes, but usually heading South is ok. You can also duck off Old Cleveland Road and cut through on the Mt Gravatt / Capalaba Rd to the Gateway junction near Mt Gravatt. I often do that as it's a fast and empty road that way!
