Hello! my wife and I have finally booked a holiday/reccie to the gold coast (burleigh waters) with a view to move in the next couple of years. What is the crime level like in the gold coast? any particular places to stay away from? any issues with trains? Any advise would be great! many thanks!

The Gold Coast is like any other popular tourist region in the world, if you go the middle of surfers paradise on a saturday night you may well see all sorts of drunk idiots, fights etc. The Gold Coast is a huge place and has some lovely family orientated suburbs, as you will see when you arrive the front of the Gold Coast is pretty high rise with lots of tourists , move inland 5/ 10 minutes and its like moving to a diferent world.
A good way of checking out what really goes on is to pick up as many local newspapers as you can whilst your there, this will give you an idea of which suburbs suffer from crime and idiots more than others.

    Hi and welcome to Brits...!

My friends live in Nerang on the GC and say they hardly hear of any crime compared to what they put up with hear in Birmingham. If you're coming from a major U.K. city you will probably find crime doesn't compare over there whereas if you're coming from somewhere like Devon then in parts crime might be very similar...

    Have a great trip!

    Dan :)

My sister lives in Coolangatta and said it is not bad as far as crime goes I have been to burleigh heads which is the area you will be going to,it is on the outskirts of the gold coast so will be a lot quieter than in central gold coast, the trains are policed so not a big problem other than a few idiots but they are mostly harmless.
