    Hiya
We are coming to Oz in March, and wondered what people do/ think about cars in Oz. We have been told that cars are really expensive there, and by the time you sell your car in Uk and then exchange your money to Oz dollars, you cant get much for your money. Someone has even mentioned shipping your Uk car out there.

    Any thoughts?

    thank you!

Second hand cars in Australia tend to be more expensive than the UK, basically for a couple of reasons, They do not rust as much here and you do not have large fleet owners selling off their cars every three years so their staff can have a new car. New cars tend to be around the same as the UK. if you want to ship your own car it is possible and you will find a thread about this on our parent site (PomsInOz).

Take a look at that and it should answer all your questions. One thing to remember is that an imported car is classed as a "Grey Import" and does not hold the value of a car purchased in Australia and can be harder to insure. A lot of members have imported their own and are happy with the result.
