Since we arrived my husband has this sudden urge to go camping!! He has bought a tent and all of the stuff to go with it - him and the kids did a trial run in the garden and they loved it!

I am not so sure though - I dont know if I fancy roughing it out in the wild - being at one with nature and mr huntsman!!!

Has any one been camping in Oz? Is it as bad as I think it is going to be? I know the majority of the camp sites are well equipped and having swimming pools and full facilities..........................

Chellem luvvy I will let you know what its like as we are off with the kids this weekend albeit its Appollo Bay in Victoria but personally cant wait to camp in Queensland and our tent is fully sealed so shouldnt need to worry about the creepy crawlies. Just make sure theres a bucket to pee in at a night time as no way am i going outside the tent after nightfall!

Well we went camping and it was only for 1 night and boy it was cold! I would suggest waiting a few weeks more but we had to go now as we wanted to drive the Great Ocean Road before we move to Brisbane. The Apostles are better in real life than on a postcard too. Great Ocean Road was okay but its not til you get to Princetown area that it gets really impressive in my opinion.

The campsite we chose was lovely it was just outside Appollo Bay callad Melang (i think). Word of warning though. The camp site was $40 per night with power or $34 without power as it was start of school hols! Expensive i thought.

Cal, after i have camped in Queensland i will let you know how brave i really am! No creepies down here yet as its too cold only a few worms underneath the tent when we took it down. Saying that though there was a huge Wolf spider holidaying in my garage!

Only got 5 weeks to go now til we are up there! Yippee

5 weeks will fly ,youll be here sooner than you know it,lol, get organised now!! lol
Not even the camper traliers would attract me to camping, lol, my neighbours have a nice shiny new one ,that is great but if anything id have to have a motorhome. We said when the kids are abit older we will travel the coast in a motorhome, there seems to be soooo much to see over here.

Our first home on moving to QLD was a tent at a holiday park at Oxenford. It was opposite Movieworld and had plenty of showers, a huge camp kitchen and lots of grassy area which was especially great with our dog in tow. They have built a small motel on the site now but have retained the powered and non powered sites. There is also a pool.

There is also a big 4 caravan park near Springfield which has loads of stuff for the kids and all the facilities you require and is handy for either the gold coast or Brissy.

If by camping you mean camping then Bribie Island, Rainbow Beach and Straddy islandoffer a more rustic form of camping. 4wd required for the beach at Bribie and on Straddy.
