Hi, we are relocating to Brisbane from the UK in January and trying to find an area to live that is within cycling distance of PA hospital (7.5km at the very most) & good transport links. The areas we are considering are (however open to other suggestions); Rosalie/Milton, Norman Park, Camp Hill & Seven Hills. Has anyone had experience of any of the local state primary schools as this is probably the one thing that will sway our decision (that and finding a rental home in the area)?

I have researched the NAPLAN results so understand that side of things but what about the community feel of these schools and how approachable are the teachers; do they cater for the individual or are they treated as just one of many etc? Any knowledge would be helpful as all the school's websites make them sound great and know I will need to see them for myself but hard from over in the UK.

I have also posted this on the PIO website as well

    Thanks for any help.

We lived next to Milton SS and only ever heard good things about it. Our son was going to go there so we were asking around but then we moved. Most of the state schools around there have good reputations. Milton, Petrie Tce, Ithaca Creek, Ashgrove, Bardon, Rainworth etc

If you are planning on any more children, Milton also has Rosalie Creche and Kindergarden nearby which is excellent. One of Brisbane's oldest Kindy's serving the local community for a long time.

Used to love walking past Milton SS and through Rosalie Village with my child in the morning seeing all the parents and kids walking to school/kindy from surrounding houses...for somewhere 2 km from the city it had a lovely little feel...I still miss it as I drive through there all the time.

That is good to hear that the schools (& Creche & Kindergarten) in this area are considered to have a good reputation and there is a good feel to the area! Thanks so much for your perspective!

Anyone else heard or have experience of the other areas mentioned?
