    Hi all :)

I read a comment the other day about the heat in Brisbane which alarmed me and I would like to get some perspective on it from other people who live there ... the comment was that I'd be relieved to be indoors as it is so hot outdoors; the trouble is that we are moving to Brisbane for a more outdoor lifestyle and I don't want to go from being stuck indoors because of the cold, to being stuck indoors because of the heat ... so here are my questions:

Roughly for how much of the year does the Brisbane heat/humidity make you want to stay indoors for the air con? and for how much of the day?

Also there were comments about the rain that got me as well:

I know it has rained more than usual this last couple of years but how much does that affect your outdoors lifestyle? I.e. is it short sharp bursts of rain followed by sunshine or is it constant rain which forces you indoors for days on end?

    Thanks in advance ...

Brisbane is not that hot if you compare with Darwin but every now and then we have 38-40 degree but that very rare, in term of rain, yes it's more rains fall this year that last couple year but still beautifully one day perfect the next. Good luck

    Cheers

Brisbane has its days of hot weather, but as for being to hot to go outside that would be very rare. Compared to some state capitals Brisbane could be considered on the cool side. Perth and Darwin can and do get a lot hotter. Whenever I have been into Brisbane I have never found humidity to be a problem, perhaps I have been lucky. A lot will depend on where you want to live. When i first moved here I lived by the ocean and the breezes coming from the water seemed to keep the air fresh and pleasant.

I arrived at Brisbane airport in the middle of June, and the temperature was a balmy 20c and would drop to 5c at night, I thought this is paradise, middle of winter and better temperature than I had left behind in a British summer. Locals were walking around with cardigans on, whilst I was happy in shorts and T Shirt, 12 month later I had acclimatised to the temperatures and the next June when the temperature dropped to 18c I was complaining how chilly it had gone. You will soon acclimatise to the warmer weather here. Wait till you see a tropical thunderstorm here, now that is a sight to see.

I was worried about the temperature before I moved here too, but I agree with the others that it isn't as bad as you'd imagine. Although it does get hot sometimes, we don't seem to get the prolonged heatwaves that they get in other cities - Perth regularly gets 40 degrees plus and even Melbourne, which you expect to be cooler, gets some crazy temperatures at times. If I'm honest, I'd say it's the humidity that's the real killer - it can be like walking through custard some days and it's annoying when things go mouldy in your house.

But don't be put off because this is only for 3-4 months and the rest of the year is amazing weather - so it is definitely worth it.

The heat is great, nothing to unbearable other than the odd day here and there. Its the cold in winter that catches you out, lol, thats what i struggle with,I'm just glad we have a log fire, lol. I can live happily without air-con through a summer, but couldnt live without my fire in winter, lol

    Hi

The heat in Brissy is fine, odd hot day but humidity isn't an issue. I lived mainly in Central Queensland and that's a couple of degrees hotter and much more humid in Summer. You will love the Brisbane summer.

When mentioned Brisbain, this is the first impression for me. Beautiful place, lovers walking in the sunset, near beach. Romantic City
