    Hi All

I am looking to relocate to Brisbane this year with my family, but am finding it really hard to get any response from architectural employment agencies? Their websites are showing jobs but nobody is responding to me. I am looking to fly out to Aus in the next few weeks if it is going to give me a chance of getting some response from the agencies.
Is there still plenty of work in Brisbane or has it really slowed down, like the rest of the world?

    Work For Architects

    Hi Davemsy

Work in the top end of the market has certainly dried up over the past 9 months. In Qld 80% of the homes that are designed are produced by Building Designers rather than Architects. It maybe worth looking into that area for work in the immediate term.

It's hard to be taken seriously when you are in the UK as so much of the enquiry (around 95%) generally fizzles out. (I base that on franchise enquiries we receive from the UK). Once you arrive in Australia for your reccy that will change.

I moved out from the UK in 2006 after a visit to Noosa in 2005. My office is located near Brisbane Airport so if you would like to pop in for a chat when you come over you are more than welcome.

    Hi Brinksmat

Thanks for your advice. I think a trip out to Aus is the best hope. Thank you for the invite to pop in and have a chat. I will certainly take you up on that offer. I'm not sure how we can exchange contact details?
I'll certainly look into the design and build service you mentioned. Funnily enough my wife found a thread from another expat who runs a design and build service, so I'll make a point of contacting him for more advice. Watch this space!
As I mentioned before, all and any advice on working life in Brisbane is greatly appreciated. Hopefully it will make our relocation that bit speedier and hassle free?! Any advice on good suburbs to live in that are relatively near the beach and easily commutable to the CBD?

Hi guys the safest way for you to excange numbers etc is via Private Message, this way only you two can view the details.
Good luck with everything, it is difficult to secure work until you arive in Australia, fingers crossed you get a good response when you get here.
