  1. Planning on moving to Brisbane year end partly for the weather and lifestyle. Any keen boatie or fishio out there? Will be considering living along the coastal suburbs to be near the water? Just wondering what Moreton Bay's like? Was at Manly last November and noticed the water's very brown and tidal looking, a little bit disappointing but could possibly be better further out. Any comment or advice is welcomed. I own a 19ft trailer boat so would be interested to know what the conditions are generally like; facilities, boat ramps, crowds, fishing, wind, sea conditions, etc, etc. Thanks.

Morton bay is a beautiful place, When you came over last year was it after the floods, as a lot of debris and muck was washed into the waterways and it took sometime for it all to recover.

There are boat ramps in nearly every town and once you get to know the locals then you can find the best fishing spots. The local TV channels normally do an evening report on tide and sea conditions for the next day.

  4. Seeing these pictures just makes me want to catch the next flight out. Will be spending a week checking out real estate and schools mid May (and to do the obligatory theme parks) but really hope to spend some time on the water as well just to make sure the pics have not been photoshopped:wink:. We came over last November so not sure whether the flood had anything to do with it. What's the wind and sea conditions like generally? Coming from Auckland NZ, We don't get to go out very much because the winds are often 15 knots and above and the water's too cold to swim in except for a small window in summer when the water temp goes up to 18-20 degs (but still too cold for my liking). Are the boat ramps crowded on weekdays? How are the facilitates like parking and pontoons?

  6. Now that's a sweet deal! Thanks for the tip but we've already got all the bookings in place. We've got season passes to all 3 parks from our trip last Nov so they're still valid. This is meant to be a serious recce mission but we can't bring ourselves to tell our 6 year old that we'll have to to skip the theme parks so we'll compromise by spending a couple of days there.
