Hi - we are thinking of leaving the west and moving to Brisbane as we are ready for a change. Wondered if anyone else had done the move and what their experience has been. :smile:Cheers!

    Hi MindariePoms,

Welcome to BIB, I am sure you will love the brisbane area, ( but I am biased). If you look for the search button near the top of the page and seach for perth postings, you will probably find others who have moved inter-state and settled in Brisbane. There are also threads on members who have moved from Melbourne to QLD, there experiances may also be of help to you.

Do you know where in the Brisbane area you would like to live?

    Hiya
I met a family last year who had moved from Perth, they seemed surprised at how much cheaper things were here , but prices may have changed since.
Like Colin im biased but think Brisbane is great, lol, there is a suburb to suit every taste in the Greater Brisbane area.

    Good Luck with everything

THanks - thinking maybe Redcliffe or Manly but if it wasnt for OH's work, I'd go for Bulimba. Doing a reccie next month. Can't be any more expensive than Perth that's for sure!

    Hi,
Read your post and was just wondering how things have turned out for you?
We're a similar situation, currently living in Ocean Reef in Perth but my OH has been offered a job in Lytton, Brisbane, am in a total panic as to whether moving is the right thing to do. I've got a 9 year old girl and 5 year old boy who are not keen on moving! If we do move I really want to pick an area close to Lytton so the OH's commute is not as bad as it is in Perth so would be looking at the bayside area I think, schools are a big concern for us as well as I really want to get the kids settled. Any advice would be really appreciated.

    Thanks, Nic.

    Hi Nic

We moved up from Sydney a couple of years ago and absolutely love it here (we spent 5 years in Sydney). Yes - the bayside area would probably be a great choice if your hubby is to be working in Lytton. My girls who were 11, 9 and 5 when we moved up are so happy here - I think they are more settled here after only 2 years than anywhere else we have lived.

Please ask if you need any help - there's a few of us Baysiders here!!

    Love

    Rudi

Hi Nic. We were (as my name suggests) in Mindarie, so we were practically neighbours! we are now living in Lota which is bayside and have been here 2 months - no regrets and definitely feel after 8 years in Perth that it was the right move for us. OH drives to Bowen Hills - the other side of the city whilst other friends' hubbys commute happily by train.
My daughter is 9 (year 3) and she was made very welcome by her new school in Manly.
Good websites to check out schools include www.myschool.com.au and www.bettereducation.education.com.au.
It is a big move but at least you are familiar with life in Oz...
If you'd like any specific info then feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. We nearly moved 3 years ago but got cold feet and bottled it! If we move it will be in the school holidays so I really need to get my finger out and try and arrange something for the kids. I really do like Perth and love the fact that we live so close to the beach but have always had a feeling that we wouldn't settle here for good.

Hi Nic. I have to be honest, we really miss having such great beaches literally on our doorstep BUT there is so much else over here to do. You could always bribe your kids with a theme park pass! ($99 for an unlimited pass to Seaworld, Movieworld and Wet n Wild, valid until the end of June).
