    hi everyone

just wondered if anyone could give advice or their views on areas around south brisbane.

I hope to be working for the Mater Hospital but out in the community I have a son 21 and Daughter 13/14 so we dont really want to live in the city that certainly doesn't appeal to us, so ideally somewhere not too quiet but with enough to do good schools etc.

    thanks

Hi how long are you wanting to spend commuting and will you be using private or public transport?

Because of your children i think you would like areas just North of the city, like Albany Creek, Eatons Hill, Bridgeman Downs, etc . These suburbs would give access to the hustle and bustle of the city that your teenagers would probably want, whilst not being too far from your work base.
Wynnum and Manly are other popular areas too, the trouble with Brisbane is there are too many nice suburbs, i like Bulimba ,nice houses easy access to river ferry for Southbank etc, well worth a look.
Hope this helps a little, it really is hard to choose without seeing the places.

  5. I would certainly recommend Holland Park and Carindale. There is a lovely big shopping centre and Carindale and the bus service is terrific. Mater is easy to get to from the motor way from these areas. Looking at the most about 30 mins by car

Lots of people who work at the Mater seem to live in the Bayside area. It's not a bad commute from here and it has the benifit of being near the water!!

    Good luck with the move

Bayside is best, in my view.

Better weather, less traffic, near water, .... I like it :)
