  1. Hi all

We have been living in Adelaide for the past 4 years. We like Adelaide and have no major issues with it however we have been wondering for a while now whether we should try another state. We are a little concerned that Adelaide may not offer our kids the opportunities that other states will and would love to get away from the cold winters.

We had a couple of questions and wondered if there were any others out there who've made the move from Adelaide to Brisbane and how they've found it. Also, how has everyone adapted to the humidity?

We are currently about 45 mins from the city and was wondering if anyone could recomment any areas of similar distance from Brisbance city centre?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PS Sorry, just read that someone has very recently posted a very similar question!

    Hi both ....
We are in Manly - in the bayside area of Brissy. Hubby gets a choice of trains into the CBD - the "express" takes around 35 mins and the normal train takes 45. We can't really comment on driving in as we've only done it once - it took us 45 mins then but some people have said it should be quicker than that! We love Manly as it has a great villagey feel, with markets on the waterfront every weekend. There's monthly outdoor movies and an outdoor pool. Feel free to pm me if you want to ask any questions ...

    Hi
I moved from Adelaide to Brisbane in May, after starting out in Adelaide. Daughter is still in Adelaide, and I am now here on my own. Brisbane is a beautiful place and a lot more to do for those with families, weather is great, and yes you see rain ;) I have recently been widowed and the people here are so welcoming and helpful, so now just need to start making new friends.

Daughter is moving here in March, to join police force, and even though she has all her friends in Adelaide, is looking forward to the movel

I moved here with work, and even though I now have to start again on my own, feel quite at home here.

A belated welcome to Brissy ... I agree that it's a great place! Not long 'till your daughter moves here too - that'll be great for you. Happy to arrange to meet for a coffee sometime or maybe a glass of wine (or two) in the evenings if that's better for you! I know a few others who would be easily 'persuaded' to tag along too - there's a lovely bunch of people here that made me very welcome when we arrived. Look up the pomsinoz site as there's lots of useful info on there and get-togethers for people in this area. Please feel free to PM me if you fancy catching up.
