Any idea what an acceptable income for a couple would be in the Gladstone area. I have heard that rent is expensive and hard to come by properties with all the work.

Yes, it is difficult to give proper advice since we don't have any idea of the lifestyle you intend/wish to live
But if you both work, you won't have any problems finding a rental in a nice (not upmarket) suburb and enjoy a good life!
