Just wanted to say HI:biggrin: we have finally decided on QLD! We can't move till i'm qualified, i'm a student midwife and Ste is a motor mechanic. We have 3 beautiful boys aged now 13, 10 & 9 and our baby girl is 4! In two and a half years we will be flying one way to our new home and new life, really can't wait! So bye for now lots of reading and research to be done and lots of questions to ask

Thanks Cal :) glad to hear its all working out for you! That's something we'll be aiming for eventually, we had a garage here but when the recession hit we lost everything, not had it long but we tried! There seems to be more oppertunities over there but initially we'll be happy spending quality outdoor time as a family, the rest can wait!

Can I ask whats the mechanics wages over there? Ste is an MOT inspector aswell but i believe its different in Oz, maybe eventually he could do something like that.....oh sorry i'm off dreaming again, really cant wait HURRY UP TIME!!!!!

According to hubby , the safety certs here (like UK mot) are not as in depth as in the UK, so if hubby is used to mot's i think once he gets to grips with aussies standards he would get work easy enough. Gary as been asked twice if he wants to do testing but its something he doesnt fancy.
Wages wise when employed he earnt $30 hr plus a company ute and phone, he is now self employed and currently works 3 or 4 days a week doing mobile work plus one saturday every month or so when he runs a training course on Diagnostics for the aussies. Its the same as anywere you need to work for someone and get your name known out and about before going self employed.

Does your hubby just do petrol vehicles? Gary was asked if he knows any more poms coming over in his line of work (he specialises in diesel engines but does a few petrol)

Thanks Cal, Ste does both diesel and petrol also light commercial! He's been time served for 20 years in main agents, mobile and independent garages, also does air con and diagnostics. I just hope that when we do move out he can get work although midwives wages arnt to bad so i could keep us going for a bit and i'll get me position before we move, so some gaurentee income wise. I'll keep in touch though might need your services nearer the time :) Esp accommodation!

I'm just waiting for the new SOL list to come out then we'll start the visa process! He's a cheeky bugger my husband though, said he'd come over now and i can follow with the kids- so that might be one singe lady coming over if he keeps it up lol!
