Well I really cant believe it but we will be leaving the UK in 4 weeks, we have had our furniture removed and are moving to my dads for the final 3 weeks. I feel very excited but I feel quite emotionless about saying goodbye to everyone, Im not sure if Im bottling up or if this is just the way I feel. I will soon find out in 3 weeks when we have our family leaving do!
    How did other people feel??
i would love to hear other people thought on goodbyes.
    Thanks
    Fi

    Hi Fiona,

Everyone is different when it comes to saying goodbye and how they deal with their feelings. Your farewell party will be a mixture of emotions. Everyone goes through this and it’s quite normal to feel these emotions, just remember that in a few weeks you will be starting a new phase in your life. New friends, new experiences embrace your new life and stay in contact with old friends. The internet is great for that. Good luck with the move and keep us informed about how it goes.

I can only think of one word to describe the goodbyes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Horrendous! lol

No seriously, saying goodbye isnt easy, even for the toughest of people. I found it best to avoid airport goodbyes, turn mobile phones off until your here and just keep thinking of the reasons you wanted to migrate in the first place.
    Good Luck with everything

Hi Fiona - I am in the same boat only we are 1 week today! The packers are coming tomorrow - have been pacing the house aimlessly all day moving random objects from one room to another for no apparent reason! Husband is Australian but been in Scotland for 14 years now - we have 3 kids - 5, 3 and 6months - feeling quite sad that in a few short months Scotland will be a distant memory for them all and the 5 and 3 year olds will have ozzy accents ;).

The goodbyes have started already and they are breaking my heart! Our container is being packed on Friday then open house at ours with copious amounts of champagne and anticipated buckets of tears... oh God what are we doing???

We are moving to Coolum - would be great to hear from anyone (especially those with young kids) who is living in that area.

    Good luck with your move!

thanks thalia, well we have moved into my dads now, he only has a little 2 bed terrace intown - we had a lovely big 3 bed cottage in the sticks, so a little bit squashed, but we are grateful we have somewhere to go for a few weeks.
good luck with you move too!
