G' Day , I am supposed to be moving over there this July but can not decide wether it is a good idea to or not ,i have a daughter 8 and she will be fine but my son is at the stage that he needs now to choose his options and do not know wether this move could totally destroy his education . We are finding it really difficult to find any info on schools , can anyone help ? Does anyone have or have you had the same experience .

    Thanks in advance Chris .

    Hi,

    Welcome to BIB,

I do not have children of school age, I am sure someone with school children will be able to put your mind at ease.

I do know that children of all ages have moved here and settle into the school system very well and have not suffered with their school work or education standards. I suppose the way to look at it is that you will be moving to Australia and he will obtain Australian qualifications that will be recognised here and help with any further education or employment prospects. Moving over here with GCSE qualifications in two years time may put him at a disadvantage as he would have to try and explain to any prospective employers what they were.

    Hi Chris

Welcome to Britsinbrisbane. I have children who are a similar age to yours. I don't think it will disadvantage his education. Many many people make the move with children of your son's age, and older and they settle in well to school and do well.

What sort of info do you want to know about schools? Maybe ask some specific questions and I will try and answer them for you.

    Love

I am sorry, I don't know the Everton Park area at all, so I cannot advise you about what sort of area it is, and what sort of schools there are there.

It is possible for your children to go to the same school, however, it is usually private schools that have classes from prep through to year 12. The state system usually has primary schools for children up to age 12 and then the high schools are completely separate.
